Puccini meets Gershwin: a musical journey through the golden age of Hollywood classics & more…
Inspired by the magic of film soundtracks and the timeless allure of classic jazz standards, Lola has recently embarked on an exploration of uncharted musical territory, where soprano vocal technique merges seamlessly with splendid piano improvisations.
Together with the exceptionally talented jazz pianist Tomasz Bura, Lola has crafted a unique repertoire that encompasses unforgettable melodies from the silver screen, the sophisticated ambience of beautiful singing and piano improvisations, with the option to include Lola’s and Tomasz’ original music, and beloved opera arias upon request, to make for a bespoke and unique event and experience.
Born in Moscow, Lola grew up in Indochina and as a teen won a full scholarship to study in London, U.K. where she moved to alone to aged 15.
Lola’s artistic journey has taken her to international stages and began with piano playing at the Gnessin’s School of Music, the Purcell School and then the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with First Class honours as a concert pianist. She then went on to win further bursaries and scholarships to do a postgraduate singing course at the Royal Academy of Music. After completing her postgrad studies in London, Lola went to Italy to study opera singing with Maestro Danilo Rigosa.
With her fine musicianship and versatility as a singer Lola has performed in many prestigious and beautiful venues in London and internationally, venues such as Queen Elizabeth Hall, Chelsea Arts Club, Houses of Parlament in London, Red Squares’ State Historical Museum in Moscow and National Centre of Performing Arts production of Madama Butterfly in Mumbai, India.
Lola’s voice, with its richness, range and purity is impeccably suited to both operatic as well as classical crossover lighter music repertoire, creating a magical and timeless atmosphere.
“A Night of Gershwin, Golden age Hollywood Classics & More” is the title of recent concerts Lola and Tomasz Bura performed in Italy, where they delivered programmes brimming with emotion, performing timeless classics such as Gershwin’s “The Man I Love” and “Summertime,” Mancini’s “Moon River,” Arlen’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and Solovyov-Sedoi’s “Moscow Nights.
The performances were greatly received and further enriched by original compositions of Lola, including her songs “Meeting in Time”, “Angelica” & “You’re my Sunshine”. The result is an immersive and refined musical experience that captures the essence of the golden era when classically trained voices reigned supreme, reimagined with a contemporary twist.
