Lola G. AKA Lola Ganzarolli is a British Russian soprano, singer songwriter, performing and recording artist.
Born in Moscow, USSR, she grew up in Indochina, Russia and UK. London has been her home ever since she won a music scholarship to come to study in UK at the age of fifteen. She trained classically at the Royal Academy of Music (Singing, Post Graduate, LRAM) and prior to that at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (Piano performance, BMus with 1st Class honours). Lola won a number of grants and awards, including entrance scholarships, RAM and GSMD bursaries, full scholarship to the Purcell School of Music and the Florida State University, Tallahassee, sponsorship support from Rio Tinto Plc. and The Clothworker’s Foundation, Il Circolo awards towards singing courses and concerts in Italy... First performing experiences as a solo soprano were in London at the QEH (Bach-Rumi concert), Queen’s Jubilee Hyde Park celebrations, RAM Opera scenes as Susanna, La Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Suzel (L’Amico Fritz), Mimi, (La Bohème), Alice (Falstaff), Venere (L’Egisto), Dido (Dido and Aeneas).
As a classical artist, Lola has performed in many parts of the UK, in Austria, Italy, France, Russia and Southern Africa. In London, she has sung at the Canada House, the Foreign Office, Covent Garden Christmas Ceremony, Garrick, RAC and Caledonian Clubs. Academia Rossica invited Lola to sing in the concert celebrating Moscow Breakthrough and Russian Art at the Spenser House. She performed at St Martin-in-the-Fields and Proms at Saint Jude’s in London and also appeared in the world premier of The Vikings! at the Opera Fringe Northern Ireland (presented by Live Music Now UK & Classic FM). Lola took part in a new production of Madama Butterfly (Cousin) at the Jamshed Bhabba Theater in Mumbai in 2008, India under the music direction of Johannes Wildner.
In January 2009 she visited St Petersburg to experience a performance workshop with the Russian Nights Theatre, led by a distinguished actor Alexander Markov, with particular emphasis on poems by Alexander Pushkin and Russian music singing repertoire. In preparation for her London solo concerts and poetry evenings dedicated to Pushkin (Blackheath Halls, Chelsea Arts Club), Lola also had the privilege to work with Professor Vaja Nikolayevich Chachava in Moscow and to attend singing master classes in London with Sergei Leferkus and Liubof Orfeonova.
In 2012, whilst starting to work with her current voice coach Danilo Rigosa, Lola started to write her own music for the first time in her life. After sharing a song with a friend in New York, she was encouraged to continue writing and has since then written many songs with her own lyrics. Together and with support of Danilo Rigosa, she recorded her first twelve songs with piano and voice, an amazing experience and a vital stepping stone in understanding song writing and preparing her current album Undreamt Dreams. Whilst in Italy, she also had the honour to learn from the renowned Italian pop songwriter Bruno Laurenti AKA Laurex and to record and to write lyrics in English for several of his songs. Lola’s love for Italy has also inspired her to learn the language and to write lyrics in Italian. In 2015 she wrote some Italian lyrics for pop singer songwriter Yerkesh Shakeev. But the majority of her songs are in English and so are the ones in her official debut album.
Following on from all the experiences and taking inspiration from pop, jazz, her love for film and from her classical music training, Lola G. has crafted a sound world that is uniquely her own. Her original songs can fall into the genre Adult Contemporary, passionate love ballads, together with the pure quality of the voice bring together two worlds, traditional and pop in a new and exciting way. The recording of her official first album Undreamt Dreams took place in Italy, Marche between 2014-2016, where she was working in collaboration with some of the finest Italian pop and jazz musicians, singer songwriter Chiara Grilli and the head of DeLirica Studio Paolo Berti. The album was then mastered at the Abbey Road Studios in London. Lola continues her voice training under the guidance of Italian bass Danilo Rigosa and she is currently working on new songs, new lyrics and her follow up album. She is thankful for all the support that she can get to make her music be heard by as many people as possible!.
